| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Desperate Hours |
THE DESPERATE HOURS is a movie produced and directed by William Wyler in 1955.
The setting is a wealthy neighborhood of Indianapolis. Bogart, Martin and Middleton, three escaped criminals, enter Fredric March's home, taking him, his wife and their two children hostages. During two days and two nights, this family will have to act as if nothing was happening while Bogart is waiting for an accomplice to bring him some cash. All attempts to run away are brought to nought by a smart Bogie.
Meanwhile, the police lieutenant Arthur Kennedy and the F.B.I. are desperately searching for a clue that could lead them to the criminals's hiding place. They'll finally have something to think about when Martin, hit by a truck, is found dead with Fredric March's gun in his pocket.
