| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about How Green Was My Valley |
In a small mining town, the Morgan family struggles in pre-union Wales. Told through the eyes of the youngest son, Huw, the story follows several aspects of the family's life: layoffs and wage cuts, Huw's temporary paralysis after falling in freezing water, his sister falling in love with the preacher, and their father's eventual death. All of this is caught up in the singing, dancing, and drinking of Welsh culture in this very nostalgic view of the past.
