| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Drop Dead Gorgeous |
This movie is a satire about beauty pageants and the lengths some people will go to in order to win them. The annual beauty pageant is taking place in a small Minnesota town and it is being covered by a TV crew. Former winner Gladys Leeman (Alley) wants her daughter Rebecca (Richards) to win, no matter what. She will stop at nothing to make it happen including causing explosions, trailer fires, falling lights and even accidental death of other contestants. The Leeman family are the richest in town therefore the local police turn a blind eye to most of the disasters that surround the pageant. Amber Atkins (Dunst) is the good girl in the competition but also Rebecca's number one rival. She too wants very much to win but does not employ any devious methods that undermine the competition. More deaths are to follow before the final results are in and the beauty queen crowned.
