| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Unfaithful |
Connie Sumner (Lane) has a loving husband of many years named Edward (Gere), a ten year old son, and a beautiful home in the suburbs of New York. However there's a part of her that yearns for something more. On a trip to New York City to buy party supplies, Connie meets a handsome and younger stranger, book dealer Paul Martel (Martinez) after she falls down and cuts her leg in the street, trying unsuccessfully to hail a cab. Inviting her up to his apartment to clean up her knee, Connie and Paul are instantly attracted to one another.
They soon begin a steamy affair. When Edward finds out about his wife's aduterous affair he goes to Martel's apartment and confronts him. In a fit of uncontrollable anger he hits him over the head with a snow globe and Martel falls to the floor, dead. Cleaning up the place, Edward then dumps the body and hopes it will never be discovered. When police come to their house to speak with Connie about Martel's disappearance, the couple must discuss the tragic truth about the affair and the fatal consequences of it- the murder of Connie's lover Paul.
