| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about City by the Sea |
CITY BY THE SEA is a movie directed by Michael Caton-Jones in 2002.
Lieutenant Vincent La Marca is a respected NYC police officer. He's divorced and has a casual relation with his neighbour Michelle. His life will be turned upside down when the press reveals that his father was executed in Sing-Sing in 1959. On the same day, he has to solve a crime implicating his own son Joey he hasn't seen for years.
Joey is a drug addict living on small burglaries and sleeping in a deserted casino of Long Beach. He killed a drug dealer while on drugs and must hide in order to avoid an associate of his victim. His father, relieved from the case, starts his own investigation in order to speak to his son before his arrest. The confrontation between Vincent and Joey will allow each one of them to face their past.
