| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Osterman Weekend |
Based on the Robert Ludlum novel, THE OSTERMAN WEEKEND was directed by Sam Peckinpah in 1983.
John Tanner is a TV producer whose successful talk show allows him to handle delicate political subjects. One day, he's contacted by the C.I.A. which informs him that three of his closest friends are working for the K.G.B. Agent Lawrence Fassett asks Tanner to help him persuade one of them to betray the others. As everybody must come to Tanner's home on the next weekend, Fassett hides micros and cameras in each room of the house.
But Fassett is in fact manipulating everybody in order to take revenge on Burt Lancaster, the head of the C.I.A., who was responsible for his wife's death. Tanner plays by the rules until the moment he understands that Fassett won't let anybody leave his house alive. Out of control, Fassett orders his men to eliminate the Tanner's family and its guests.
