Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Over The Top
The predominantly amateur sport of arm wrestling forms the framework for this eighties hit. Lincoln Hawk (Stallone) is a trucker - with a penchant for arm wrestling - whose personal life is in the doldrums. To make things more difficult, his former wife Christina (Susan Blakely) passes away, leaving behind a son from their marriage. Hawk tries to bond with his son, whom he had earlier deserted. Despite all efforts, their relationship flounders, that is until the little guy sees his father arm wrestling. To win him over, Hawk enters the World Championship of arm wrestling in Las Vegas and is determined to bring home the prize.
