| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Gas Food Lodging |
In the desert of New Mexico,a single mother and waitress named Nora (Adams) is raising her two teenage daughters, Trudi (Skye) and Shade (Balk). The two girls want nothing more than to leave the dead end town. The youngest daughter Shade is a dreamer who escapes into her fantasies while Trudi rebels against everything and everyone, especially her mother. Shade tries to find a boyfriend for her mother whom she believes is extremely lonely but ends up setting her up with a lover from her past named John (Brolin). The lives of the mother and her daughters change drastically when Trudi falls in love and then gets pregnant by an archaeologist passing through town who promises to come back for her but doesn't. Ironically the crisis brings the family closer together.
