| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about More Than Friends |
Matty Perlman (Marshall) and Alan Corkus (Reiner) are old friends and have been since their youth. Alan wants to be a writer. Matty wants to be in show business. Despite their years of friendship, there's a little more bubbling beneath the surface. Alan wants to be more than friends and seeks to woo Matty. They try to have a romantic relationship and ultimately fail, try and fail. Can best friends be successful lovers?
This made-for-television film was made while Marshall and Reiner were still married. Many critics have pointed how this script contains much of their own romantic story and observe it presages his “When Harry Met Sally,”
