A young American couple, Michael Pappas (Gallagher) and Cathy Featherstone (Hannah) travel to the Greek Islands for the summer and are thrilled and dazzled by the beauty of the land. They are also fascinated by how uninhibited (eg. people frolicking in the nude on the beaches)the islanders are. They find the atmosphere relaxing and enjoy vacationing there very much. Michael soon meets an attractive French woman, an archeologist named Lina, (Quennessen)who is there working on a dig. The two are drawn to one another and engage in a one night stand. Upon discovering the truth of her boyfriend's infidelity, Cathy feels betrayed and goes to confront the other woman. After the two have words, Cathy calms down and proceeds to show Lina some of her photography which Lina is very impressed with. The three individuals become very close friends, even to the point where they all three share the same bed. As the summer draws to a close, Michael must decide whether he wishes to return to the US with his photographer girlfriend, or remain on the island with the archeologist, Lina.
