|Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Babes in Arms|
|Mickey Moran (Rooney), is the child of vaudevillian parents. He and the other performers' children, including Patsy Barton (Garland), are in danger of being sent to a work farm. Moran cooks up a scheme to, yes, put on a show to demonstrate he and his friends don't belong in an institution and in show business. They have just 30 days to convince the judge (Black) and other well-meaning adults with their production. The gang may also take their show on the road –- perhaps to Broadway.
This was based on the musical by Rodgers and Hart. Directed by Busby Berkeley, only without the over-the-top production typically seen in his work.
