When he was a child, Tommy "killed" Jason Voorhees. After years in a mental hospital, Tommy visits Jason's grave and digs him up to make sure he's dead. This turns out to be a mistake: Jason is struck by lightning, and comes back to life.
Tommy runs to warn the town, but no one believes him except the sheriff's daughter, who develops a crush on him. Tommy and the sheriff's daughter attempt to defeat Jason and save a summer camp full of children.
