| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Ma and Pa Kettle Go to Paris (a.k.a. Ma and Pa Kettle on Vacation) |
Hard-working Ma and Pa Kettle (Main and Kilbride) decide it's high time to get off the farm and they skedaddle to Paris. Lots of the humor in this is based on the homespun hillbillies being out of place in the sophisticated city. The holiday gets further complicated –- as if traveling with your in-laws wasn't enough -- when the Kettles become entangled with spies. Never really answers the question “How are you going to keep them down on the farm after they've seen Paree.” That would be done in further installments in the series.
This is the fifth in the series of Ma and Pa Kettle films, based on characters from the 1947 film “The Egg and I.” The series was exceedingly popular. Rita Moreno has a cameo.
