Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The End of Summer
THE END OF SUMMER (Kohayagawa-ke no aki) is a film co-written and directed by Yasujiro Ozu in 1961.

The whole Kohayagawa family is disconcerted when they learn that old Banpei, the head of the family, is seeing the woman who was his mistress some 18 years before. Heading to Kyoto everyday, Banpei spends the day with his old flame and her child. Furthermore, Banpei doesn't seem to be so much involved in the current affair that occupies the rest of the family: to find the right husbands for Banpei's two unmarried daughters. Everybody has an opinion about it and tries to present the women to possible guys.
