Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Late Autumn
LATE AUTUMN (Akibiyori) is a film co-written and directed by Yasujiro Ozu in 1960.

Three friends are concerned by the lot of Akiko and her daughter Ayako. They want to help Akiko, a widow, to find the right husband for her daughter. At first, Ayako doesn't dare to tell them that she prefers not to think about marriage right now because she doesn't want to leave her mother. After the three friends finally understand why Ayako is rejecting the young men they present to her, they decide to find a husband for her mother Akiko. They believe that Ayako won't hesitate anymore to leave Akiko if she's assured that her mother won't stay alone after her wedding.
