| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Firestorm |
Howie Long (ex-Oakland Raiders football player) plays Jesse Graves. Jesse is the team leader for a group of smokejumpers who fight forest fires. He trains new guys and he scouts fires, and plots how the fires will be fought. A serious fire develops on a ridge, and Jesse goes in to stop it by starting a backdraft. Unknowingly he steps into a perilous situation. A short ways a way some prisoners escape from a work crew and are now running loose through the fire area. They run across a woman out birdwatching, who is unaware of the fire. She doesn't realize the men dressed like fireman are actually escaped convicts. Soon Jesse figures he has to fight a fire, escape from killers, and save the girl from being killed by the convicts. Overall a suspenseful movie, and surprisingly, Howie Long's acting was better than expected, as athletes are not known to be the best actors.
