| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Love Comes Softly |
This is based on Janette Oke's Christian romance novel. Young Marty and her new husband, Aaron, travel out West. After coming to the piece of land they claim as theirs, Aaron goes out to hunt for food. Marty waits for him, worrying as the day grows darker. Finally, a man from the wagon train comes with a horse carrying Aaron--draped across it--dead.
Clark Davis, a young widower from nearby, hears of Marty's loss and makes a sudden proposal. He wants Marty to marry him so she can help his moody daughter, Missie. He tells Marty she can go back East when the next wagon train comes if she wants to.
Marty has a tough time teaching and caring for Missie, and finds that she herself has a lot to learn. Missie's defenses are high and she is reluctant to let Marty in.
As time passes, Clark and Marty begin to develop feelings for each other, and even Missie starts to love Marty.
Will Clark and Marty reveal their feelings for each other before it's too late?
