| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Naked Truth |
The G-Spot is an urban Atlanta strip club run by Salem (Jones), a no-nonsense African-American businessman trying to get ahead. He's being pressed by the city and a cop taking bribes and has to do what he can to stay in business -- even to go so far as to offer one of his dancers to a cop in exchange for information. It is also a place of employment for three financially-strapped women who see the daily bump and grind as a way to get ahead or at least pay the bills. They get much more than they had bargained for and Salem won't take "no" for an answer to any of his demands of them.
This is not so much a movie as much as it is a series of vignettes strung together with the strip club serving as the only device that unites the different stories. The entire film seems like a film class project designed just so the crew can see some scantily clad babes now and again. Ice Cube's "The Players' Club" dealt with this subject in a much more entertaining way. In comparision, this is a poor imitation. The challenge is watching past the first half-hour.
