| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Trial and Error |
Charles Tuttle (Jeff Daniels) is a lawyer who gets drunk the night before a big trial; his friend, Richard (Michael Richards) must step in for him court, though he knows nothing about becoming a lawyer. Because Richard is now posing as the defense attorney, Charles must teach him everything he knows, particularly because the defendant (Rip Torn) is quite obviously guilty of the crime. Meanwhile, just as things are getting to be hopeless and absurd in court, Charles falls in love with a local girl, Billy (Charlize Theron).
