| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Maid in Manhattan |
This movie is not exceptional, but is good for anyone in a particularly sentimental mood or in the mood for a solid, average chick flick. In this modern-day spinoff of Cinderella, Jennifer Lopez is Marisa Ventura, a maid in a fancy Manhattan hotel and also a single mom. One day, when one of her co-workers gets her to try on the clothing of a wealthy woman staying in the hotel, she runs into Chris Marshall, a very wealthy politician. He thinks she's rich, they go out, laugh, make lovey-dovey eyes at each other, and he invites her out for one unforgettable night of dancing, dinner, and after-dinner romance. Not long after, he discovers who she really is, and their relationship will have to weather that test.
