| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Man of the West |
MAN OF THE WEST is a western directed by Anthony Mann in 1958.
Link Jones was an outlaw a long time ago. But he's become well integrated in a small community and is now asked by his fellow citizens to go by train to Fort Worth in order to hire a teacher for the town. The train is attacked by robbers and Link, with two other passengers, left alone on the tracks. Searching for a shelter for the night, he arrives right to the outlaws's hiding place.
Unfortunately for him, the leader of the gang is his own uncle, Dock Tobin, his partner in crime of the old days. In order to stay alive, Link convinces the old man that he's come back in order to resume his criminal activities. Link's cousin, Claude, doesn't believe a word of Link's speech and is waiting for the right moment to get rid of him.
