| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Snake Pit |
THE SNAKE PIT is a film directed by the Russian born director Anatole Litvak in 1948. Six nominations for the 1948 Academy awards, but the movie earned only one Oscar in the Best Sound category.
Virginia Stuart is a patient of the Juniper Field state insane asylum. As she doesn't remember why she's locked in this hospital, her husband Robert has her she undergo electric shock treatment. A few sessions later, Virginia feels better so that her doctor - Mark Kick - can start a complete psychotherapy session with her. After months of discussion, Doctor Kick is able to find in Virginia's childhood the origin of the mental trouble of the young woman.
