| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Impromptu |
IMPROMPTU takes a comic look at famed French writer George Sand, and her obsessive love for composer Frederic Chopin. Sand follows the frail Chopin everywhere, from parties in the heart of Paris to an art patron's mansion in the countryside. At first Chopin wants nothing to do with the bohemian, cross-dressing Sand, and friends and Sand's former lovers scheme to keep them apart. Eventually, though, Sand convinces the composer that her love for him is pure.
