| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Divided We Fall |
In this Holocaust-era film, which is based on a true story, Josef and Marie are a married couple living in a small Czech town. The two of them seem more upset about their inability to have children than they are about the Nazi takeover of their country. Their political stance is tested, however, when David, a Jewish acquaintance, shows up on their doorstep after escaping from a concentration camp. Josef and Marie have to decide on the spot whether or not to take him in, at great risk to themselves. Their decision is complicated by the relentless snooping of a neighbor, a Nazi sympathizer with designs on Marie. Only a miracle can keep Josef, Marie, and David out of the Nazis' clutches.
