| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Meeting Venus |
An opera company assembles in Paris to rehearse a production of Wagner's TANNHAUSER. Coming together from all over the globe, the cast and crew are forced to grapple with their personal, national and political differences. Rehearsals are cut short because of union rules, there are petty squabbles among the singers, and financing dries up. Perhaps the biggest problem is that the superstar diva and the up-and-coming conductor are initially at odds. Eventually they fall in love, but will their affair help or hinder the production?
