Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Gaudi Afternoon
This is a light-hearted, gender-bending romp set in the architecturally splendid city of Barcelona. Cassandra (Judy Davis) is a globe-trotting American translator, trying to eke out a living. She's approached by a mysterious woman named Frankie (Marcia Gay Harden), who begs Cassandra to help her find her estranged husband. At first, Cassandra is resistant, but she can't turn down the substantial fee Frankie is offering and so agrees to play detective.

The trail leads to a strange family unit, made up of two lesbians, a gay man, and a small child. However, no one is willing to give Cassandra any straight (excuse the pun) answers.
