| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Lethal Weapon 3 |
Detectives Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) and Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) return for a third outing. When the two detectives foil an armored-car robbery and arrest a career-criminal named Billy Phelps (Mark Pellegrino), they become understandably upset when Sergeant Lorna Cole (Rene Russo) of the Internal Affairs Bureau tries to take the case away from them with no explanation.
The three are forced to team-up, however, when Phelps is shot to death in the stationhouse interrogation room. The killer is Jack Travis (Stuart Wilson), a former crooked police officer who is peddling assault weapons and drugs stolen from the LAPD's evidence lock-up to street gangs and investing the money in a housing development.
As the three pursue Travis with the aid of fast-talking hustler/real estate agent Leo Getz (Joe Pesci), Murtaugh is forced to deal with his feelings of guilt over shooting a teenage street thug and Riggs and Cole begin to realize their feelings for one another.
Realizing that Travis' development is nearing completion and that the mastermind needs one more payday to finish the job and retire, the detectives race to the station, where Travis and his men are forcing their captain (Steve Kahan) to help them out with one last score...
