| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Donnie Darko |
DONNIE DARKO is a film written and directed by Richard Kelly in 2001.
Donald Darko is a teen suffering from schizophrenic disorders. He regularly sees a psychiatrist who tries to cure him by using hypnosis as a complement to the drugs he has to take. Besides a growing agressiveness and recurrent sleepwalking, Donald is starting to suffer from hallucinations involving a giant rabbit who tells him that the end of the world is close. This figure also forces him to commit criminal actions such as the destruction of a water pipe and the arson of the house of a local celebrity.
