Horace Hardwick has hired Jerry to star in his newest musical that he is producing. Jerry is staying with Hardwick in his hotel suite in the room above Dale Tremont's, a friend of Hardwick's wife. Jerry falls for Dale and romances her, however she mistakenly believes he is Hardwick. They all travel to Italy to attempt to clear up this comedy of mistaken identity.
