In the States, police chief Sean Brody is eaten by a shark. His widowed mother, Ellen, becomes convinced that the shark, hunted down years ago by her husband, is nursing a vendetta against the entire Brody clan. She flees with her son and his family to his home, where he is a marine biologist. The shark follows the family, intent on their destruction. Ellen tries to keep her family safe and kill the shark, while a local pilot romances her.
