Andie is working for a Composure Magazine and she agrees to write an article on the things women do to lose men. For her article she has to find a guy first then make him fall in love with her. Finally make him dump her in just 10 days time span.
Benjamin works for an ad agency and he had made a bet with his boss that he can make any girl in the world fall in love with him in just 10 days. Andie and Benjamin find each other. While she is trying to lose him he is trying to keep her.

This story revolves around two people; Andie Anderson a journalist for Composure Magazine and Benjamin Barry is an ad agency hottie. Andie agrees to write an article of her own personal experience of all the things women do to drive away men that's because she finds Benjamin make him fall in love with her then get dumped within in 10 days. On the other hand Benjamin has just made a bet with his boss that he can make any girl fall in love with him in 10 days. If Benjamin succeeds in making Andie fall in love with him in ten days he will be promoted.
While Andie is trying her best to make Benjamin dump her, Benjamin is taking all the embarrassment and being nice to her. Benjamin doing whatever it takes to keep her because of his bet. Andie and Benjamin both find out about each other and broke up but one thing that they don't realize was that, what started of as a bet for Benjamin & experiment for Andie was turning into actual love. As Andie was leaving the city her eyes all covered with tears, Benjamin reads her article and went after her, he ask her to stay and tells her that he loves her.
This movie is also known as "How to Lose a Guy" and "How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days". This movie is rated PG-13 for some sex related material.

A columnist for a women's magazine writes a how-to column. She proposes to write about how to lose a guy in 10 days by doing all of the cliched things that end a relationship. She meets a guy in a bar and begins the process.
The man, unbeknownst to the woman, begins dating her for a bet. He claims that he can make any girl fall in love with him in 10 days. If he wins the bet he gets a big diamond adverising deal.
Over the next 10 days, the girl does everything she can to annoy the guy and get him to dump her. But, the man does everything he can to stay together and get her to love him.
They end up falling deeply in love.
On the tenth day, they attend a party together. They find out about each other's reasons for being together and have a fight and break up.
The girl quits her job and plans to move to Washington D.C.
The guy catches up to her cab before she reaches the airport, they proclaim their love for one another and go home together as a happy loving couple.

Andy Anderson (Kate Hudson) is the "how to" girl for a fast-growing magazine. Her boss tells her to write the article "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" to show what not to do. "Like a dating how-to in reverse," says Andy. That guy turns out to be Benjamin Barry (Matthew McConaughey), who has made a bet that he can make any girl fall in love with him in 10 days. If he wins the bet, he gets a promotion. They each then put their plans into action. After a series of humorous incidents, Andy thinks she's won, but then Ben suggests couple's therapy! After the tenth day, they find out each other alterior motives and are heartbroken. But luckily, Ben rides his motorcycle and catched her before she leaves for Washington.
