| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Chamber |
Based on the John Grisham novel, THE CHAMBER is a film directed by James Foley in 1996.
In 1967, the two sons of the lawyer Marvin Kramer were killed in an explosion of their father's office. Sam Cayhall was arrested, found guilty and sentenced to death. Now, nearly three decades later, Sam is still alive thanks to numerous appeals of his lawyer who's just got fired by the old man. Adam Hall, a lawyer and Sam's grandson, wants to defend his grandfather and leaves Chicago for the Mississippi state.
Adam Hall has only 28 days before the execution of Sam in the gas chamber. One by one, his motions and requests are rejected by the local and federal courts. Finally, Adam understands that Sam hasn't acted alone in 1967 and that he's actually protecting someone.
