| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Cure |
CURE (Kyua) is a movie written and directed by the Japanese director Kiyoshi Kurosawa in 1997.
Inspector Takabe must investigate a batch of bloody murders that have some elements in common. All the murderers have been arrested but they don't remember their crime. Soon Takabe is convinced that each one of them has been hypnotized and conduced to kill.
Meanwhile, we make the acquaintance of Kunio Mamiya, a student in psychology who's been long obsessed by the studies of Mesmer, the scientist who discovered hypnosis at the end of the 19th century. Now, Mamiya suffers from amnesia and roams in the city. He hypnotizes the people he meets and makes them kill the person they unconsciously hate.
After Mamiya's arrest, Takabe will lengthily interrogate him with the help of the psychiatrist Sakuma. But Mamiya is still very dangerous and manages to manipulate both inquisitors.
