| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about In the Army Now |
Friends Pauley Shore and Andy Dick are down on their luck and broke. On a whim they decide to enlist in the army reserves. They figure this will give them some paid meals and a place to stay for part of the year and maybe they'll learn a job skill and some money. What they don't count on as that their unit actually gets called up. They are shipped off to Africa to fight insurgents. This movie is post-Desert Storm, so is probably supposed to be Arabic/Muslim-type Africans. They join with David Allan Grier and Lori Petty who become part of the squad. Art Lafleur is their tough but fair first sergeant who directs their mission. Unfortunately none of them is really fit for duty and their tour of duty is a comedy of errors.
