| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Once Upon a Texas Train |
After spending 20 years in prison for robbing a train, an outlaw is released. He immediately rounds up his old gang, who are all in their sixties by then. The gang robs a bank, but they're after something bigger; the same train they got caught robbing 20 years ago.
Along the way, a gang of young outlaws captures the old men. They initially plan to turn the old men in and collect the bounty, but they decide to keep the gold instead.
After learning of the outlaw's release, a retired Texas Ranger Captain, who used to be the outlaw's friend, knows him well enough to know he'll go after the train. The Captain rounds up his old unit, who are all also in their sixties by now. They catch up with the outlaws in a deserted town.
The old outlaws trick the young gang and escape. The old outlaws team up with the old rangers and have a showdown with the young men. The old guys wound the young men and take them into custody. For old time's sake, the old ranger captain lets the old outlaws go free. The outlaws agree to disappear and behave, but as they ride away they hear the train whistle and try to catch it and accomplish what they'd started out to do.
