| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about January Man |
JANUARY MAN is a movie directed by the Irish director Pat O'Connor in 1989.
A serial killer is at large in NYC. The mayor, Rod Steiger, asks the chief of police Harvey Keitel to take his brother Kevin Kline back into the police force in order to help him solve the case. Two years before, Kline was forced to resign from the NYPD to protect his brother enmeshed in a police corruption affair. The relation between the two brothers is still tense as Sarandon, Kline's former girl-friend, has finally chosen to marry Keitel.
Kline starts his own investigation and meets Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, the mayor's daughter, who was a close friend of the killer's last victim. While Kline is falling in love with her, Susan Sarandon is trying to revive Kline's old flame for her. In the meantime, Kline has understood the killer's pattern and believes that the next murder will happen soon.
