| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Bait |
BAIT is a movie directed by Antoine Fuqua in 2000.
Bristol, a computer genius, and his accomplice Jaster manage to steal 42 million dollars from the Federal Reserve in Manhattan. But, when Bristol coldly kills two guards, Jaster panics and leaves the bank alone with the loot. Arrested for having driven while intoxicated, Jaster will stay in jail during 8 hours with Alvin Sanders, a naive con artist. Jaster is soon questioned by Edgar Clenteen, the government investigator in charge of the case. After Jaster dies from an heart attack while being questioned, Clenteen learns from Alvin that Jaster told him that the loot is buried inside the Bronx Zoo. However, no gold is found there.
Eighteen months later, Clenteen, still obsessed by this case, secretly implants Alvin with a new microchip that will allow the FBI to keep track of him 24 hours a day. By doing so, Clenteen hopes to arrest Bristol when the robber will try to contact Alvin in order to force him to reveal the hideout of the loot. Alvin is released from the penitentiary, watched over by satellite cameras. Bristol quickly understands what's going on and manages to kidnap the poor Alvin who hasn't understood yet why everybody is after him.
