| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Rustin |
This story set in the small, quaint town of Rustin, Alabama delves into the life of the town hero – retired professional quarterback and current sheriff, Billy Stagen portrayed by Rick Johnson who also directs this film. Billy's seemingly comfortable existence gets shaken up when Lee (Ashley Johnson), Billy's 16-year old daughter whom he never met shows up at his doorstep. After several failed attempts at getting Lee out of his life, he's forced to give parenthood a try. Now Billy must juggle the free life he was used to with the new demanding roll of father. Adding trouble are the Rustin High School Rebels – seniors on the football team led by a ruffian, Keith Gatlin (Zachary Ty Bryan).
