| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Auggie Rose |
AUGGIE ROSE is a movie written and directed by Matthew Tabak in 2000.
John Nolan, an insurance salesman, is the direct witness to a robbery in a drugstore. The clerk, an ex-con named Auggie Rose, is shot and John Nolan takes care of him while the ambulance is coming. After Auggie Rose's death, John Nolan starts to become obsessed with this event and tries to ask about Auggie's life. Neglecting his job and his girlfriend, Nolan spends more and more time in Auggie's apartment and finds at last dozens of letters sent to Auggie Rose by a girl named Lucy.
Lucy and Auggie had written to each other for years when Auggie was in jail and Lucy, in her last letter, was announcing her arrival for the next day. John Nolan waits for her at the bus station but doesn't dare to tell her that he's not Auggie Rose. During the next days, he will embark in a double life and will fall in love with Lucy. John will take a job as a store clerk in order to become, even more, Auggie Rose in front of the young woman.
