Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Coca Cola Kid
Becker (Roberts), a young “hot shot” soft drink sales and marketing representative, is sent from Coke headquarters in Atlanta, GA to the Australian outback to peddle his wares down under. In one troublesome region named Anderson Valley sales are way off and he sets out to find the reasons for such a poor showing there. His secretary Terri (Scacchi) is a pretty, young Australian woman going it alone raising her young daughter. She would like nothing more than to land him for herself and the sake of her child.

The locals, namely T. George McDowell (Kerr), have their own beverage of choice and seem very resistant to his efforts to promote another soft drink in their area. Everyone seems to have an interest in the success of the local drink being a part of the product chain of the local drink. McDowell makes his soda in a craft-brewery manner, taking the time to make each batch to particular standards of quality and taste. Becker and Terri get better acquainted and he learns not to be so stressed by taking things a little easier. Eventually a tour of the factory ensues and Becker is convinced that McDowell is a savvy businessman. They discuss a merger of sorts and the girl gets her guy. It is the secret of her relationship to the ethical drink manufacturer that is an eye-opener at the end.
