| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion |
This is a movie about Romy and Michelle, who were best friends in high school in Tuscon, Arizona. They graduate and move to Los Angeles and live the "glamorous life" of California girls. They get a notice about their 10-year reunion in the mail and decide that they're going to go back to Tuscon to see how lame everyone from their high school really was. There are a lot of flashbacks of the people that they knew and events that happened to them.
They decide that they don't really live all that glamorous of lives, so they make up a history for themselves on their way back to the reunion in Tuscon, creating themselves into "businesswomen".
After going back to the reunion, they realize that most of the people are pretty much the same as they were in high school, only older. The ones that you want to be mean and petty, are mean and petty, lead really lame lives, never moving out of Tuscon. The ones that you really want to dislike (i.e. Janeane Garofalo), you end up really liking and feel a certain affinity to her cynical crankiness.
All in all, Romy and Michelle realize that they really DO like the lives that they lead, and realize that their friendship with each other means more to them than what people think of them.
