| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about The Incredibles |
Insurance company desk jockey Jack Parr and his wife Helen (Nelson and Hunter) live a quiet life in a California suburb with their teenage daughter Violet, younger son Dash, and baby Jack-Jack. But in reality, the couple are retired superheroes Mr. Incredible and Elasti-Girl, who went into hidden retirement after a rash of lawsuits drove them and their crimebusting comrades underground. The children have begun to show signs of superpowers of late. Jack misses the old days, and regularly sneaks out with his best friend Lucius ("Frozone," voiced by Jackson), to catch criminals and save threatened citizens. Then Mr. Incredible gets lured into a trap on the remote Pacific isle of Nomanisan, where an evil techno genius who calls himself Syndrome plans to unleash a monster robot on the city so he can swoop in and save the day as a supposed superhero. It's up to Elasti-girl and the kids to save their credulous husband and father, as well as the planet. This delightful animated 2004 Pixar feature has terrific graphics, lots of laughs, and a genuinely fine character-driven plot.
