| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Strange Impersonation |
STRANGE IMPERSONATION is a movie directed by Anthony Mann and released in 1946.
Nora Goodrich is a New York scientist who wants to try the new anaesthetic she's manufactured before marrying her colleague, the Dr. Stephan Lindstrom. During the experiment, her assistant Arline Cole, also interested in Lindstrom, provokes a lab accident that leaves Nora Goodrich disfigured.
While Nora is recovering at the hospital, Arline tells Dr. Lindstrom that the doctors want Nora to be alone for a couple of weeks and, to Nora, she says that Lindstrom doesn't want to see her anymore. Nora gets out of the hospital and she's blackmailed by Jane Karaski, a no-good woman she's accidentally slightly hit with her car a few weeks before. Jane Karaski falls from Nora's building and Nora lets people think that she (Nora) was the one who committed suicide.
Nora flies to Los Angeles in order to get plastic surgery. The next year, she comes back to NYC with a new face, the face of Jane Karaski, and is hired as Dr. Lindstrom's assistant. She wants now to take revenge on Arline Cole who's managed to marry Lindstrom since.
