Artworks stars Virginia Madsen as Emma Becker, a sales agent for a home secuirty firm as well as the daughter of the Cincinatti chief of police. After losing her baby at birth Emma goes into a deep funk where she stops painting and her marriage is on the rocks. At an show she meets Bret Rogers (Rick Rossovich) and gets his phone number. They go out on a date and this breathes new life into Emma. She leaves her husband and a romance ensues between her and Bret. They come up with a scheme to steal highly valuable piceas of art from the upper class clients of Emma's security firm. They succesfully get away with a couple of thefts but after a close call Bret wants to stop because he was satisfied with what they had. At this time the owners of the home that they had the close call in file a police report. This report leads to an agent getting pics of Emma and her police chief father sees them. Her father works out a deal with the DA for Emma to wear a wire to catch Bret in the act. She wears the wire and the police get a tape of Bret talking. He goes to the next heist and gets caught. A year later we see Bret, Emma, and her father in a villa drinking wine and painting.
