| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about C'est La Vie |
C'EST LA VIE (La Baule-les-Pins) is a French movie written and directed by Diane Kurys in 1990.
Lena sends her children to La Baule-les-Pins, a beach resort, for the summer holiday. Their nurse accompanies them and they spend most of their time with the family of Bella, Lena's half-sister. In the meantime, Lena has gone to Paris in order to find a job because she doesn't want to come back home to Lyon at the end of the holidays. She doesn't love her husband Michel anymore and wants to divorce him.
When she finally arrives at la-Baule-les-Pins, she tries to explain the situation to her daughters between a rendezvous with her lover Jean-Claude, an artist who has followed Lena all the way to La Baule. Jean-Claude leaves her in order to fly to NYC and, a few days later, it's the turn of Michel, Lena's husband, to make his appearance. Still in love with her, Michel tries to convince Lena to change her mind but the young woman has decided to divorce him.
