Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Wish You Were Here
Lynda (Emily Lloyd) is a rebellious sixteen year old girl with a foul mouth. Her father is a respected man in their seaside English town and is embarrased by his daughter's actions and general lack of respect. After performing badly on a client at a hair salon, Lynda gets forced into another job with her uncle at a bus station. This doesn't work out as Lynda starts showing off her legs to the men on the job. She does meet Eric and eventually goes out on a date with him. They have sex but this relationship falls apart. Her father reaches the end of his patience with Lynda and takes her to a psychiatrist where we learn that she has been acting this way since her mother died when she was eleven. Nothing seems to change Lynda's outrageous ways and she then takes off with an acquaintance of her father. This also doesn't last long as Lynda soon tells him that she is pregnant. Her aunt then gives her some money to run away and Lynda then comes back to her small town proudly showing off her baby.
