| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Stealing Home |
Mark Harmon stars as Billy Wyatt, a baseball player who has gone through some tough times. While living with a cocktail waitress Billy gets a phone from his mother that Katie Chandler (Jodie Foster) has died. He is informed that Katie left a will and that Billy is entrusted with her remains. In long flashback style we learn that Katie was Billy's babysitter when he was ten. Katie was sixteen then but they had a close bond and when Billy was sixteen they became lovers for one summer. When it flashes back to present time Billy goes back to his home town but he doesn't know what to do with Katie's ashes. Her family wants a traditional memorial and burial but Billy knew that's not what Katie would have wanted. But through his failed baseball career he triggers the right memories and ultimately the proper spot for her ashes.
