| Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Pros & Cons |
Larry Miller stars as Ben Babbitt, a bumbling accountant whose family has worked for the Stanford's firm for three generations. When the eldest Stanford (Darren McGavin) retires, the firm is left to his son Jack (David Rasche). they have a cocktail party to celebrate and Babbitt makes a terrible impression. Meanwhile, Ben Carter (Tommy Davidson) is trying to get to work as a waiter. Along the way, he drops his girlfriend off at the bank that was just robbed by a bunch of Korean guys in tuxedos. They jump in his car and ultimately get caught by the police. Carter is wrongly convicted of being one of the banks robbers. At the same time Babbitt has been set up by Jack and is sent to prison where he accidentally gets a reputation for being tough guy. Carter and Babbitt become cell mates. Then one day while in the yard Babbit takes a knife for Kyle (Delroy Lindo), who is the leader of the black gang. Carter and Babbitt survive prison life through the help of Kyle. But Kyle asks Babbitt to invest his money but Babbitt loses it all. He can't tell Kyle so he fakes a report that says Kyle made 150 million dollars. Then they come up with a scheme to break out of prison and go to Brazil to get Kyle's money. It doesn't end up that way but you get a fairly decent comedy with a happy ending.
