Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Dry Cleaning
DRY CLEANING (Nettoyage à sec) is a french movie written and directed by Anne Fontaine in 1997.

Nicole (Miou-Miou) and Jean-Marie (Berling) Künstner run a little dry-cleaning business in the city of Belfort, France. Their life is dedicated to work and they enjoy only scarce moments of rest. One evening, at a gay night-club, they attend a brother/sister drag performing duo that appeals to them. The following day, they come back and make the acquaintance of the performers Loïc and Marilyn who invite Nicole and Jean-Marie in their hotel room. Everybody is sexually aroused but Jean-Marie decides that it's too much for the evening and leaves with his wife, after having paid Loïc.

Nicole has been deeply marked by this experience and she's not as motivated in her work as she used to since. In order to please his wife, Jean-Marie organizes a week-end in Basel, Switzerland to meet Loïc and Marilyn who have an engagement at a local club. During the week-end, Marilyn decides to end her artistic partnership with her brother and leaves for Spain. Jean-Marie asks Loïc to stay a few days with him and Nicole.

Now Loïc is living with the Künstners and is even working at the shop. He quickly starts a romance with Nicole and tries to seduce Jean-Marie who balks at firing the young man since Nicole seems happier than ever.
