Review Summary and Plot Commentary about Our Story
OUR STORY (Notre histoire) also known as SEPARATE ROOMS was written and directed by the French director Bertrand Blier in 1986. This film earned two French Academy awards : Best Actor for Alain Delon and Best Original Writing for Bertrand Blier.

Robert Avranche (Delon) is a 45 years old man, alcoholic, who meets Donatienne Pouget (Baye) in the train. They make love and Donatienne leaves. Robert, crazy in love with her, follows the young woman home and tells her that, since he's got a lot of money with him, he will stay at her home, drink beer the whole day long and attempt to make her smile. Donatienne, not at all interested in Robert's love, will try, the next days, to discourage Robert by inviting home new sexual partners and, finally, four of Robert's friends whose mission is to get him out of the house. But Robert, intoxicated by the numerous beers he drinks all day long, always manages to postpone the moment of departure.
